I recently acquired a large quantity of Tuliptree and Sugar Maple from two locations, both of which had to be taken down due to being a threat to life and property.  Thank you to Sissy and Beth for offering it to me.

Here is a piece of tulipwood being loaded:

And some of the maple shortly after it’s arrival:

I was also given a small trunk of peach that had been knocked down in a windstorm. Thanks Helena!

The bark on the tuliptree intrigued me so I set out to turn some thin walled, natural edged bowls from the smaller branches before they dried out too much.  Because of it’s size, the peach was perfect for this as well.

Here are some of the results:

Tuliptree natural edged stemmed goblet (lt), peach natural edged bowl (ctr), tulipwood natural edged bowl (rt).
Three natural edged stemmed goblets from tulipwood.
Assorted bowls and goblet.

Come see these and more at my studio this coming weekend, May 26 & 27 during Vermont Open Studio Weekend, sponsored by the Vermont Crafts Council.  Find maps and more info here.
